The UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is inviting responses to a consultation seeking views on extending the restrictions on the use of four phthalates in medical devices, monitoring and control equipment in Great Britain (GB).
“We want to know what you think about a proposed restriction on the use of 4 phthalates in the manufacture of medical devices and monitoring and control equipment, which is in the interests of public health and environmental protection”, asks DEFRA, because “These substances have long been of concern. When they are used in electrical and electronic equipment they can have a negative impact on effective recycling, human health and the environment during waste operations.”
The introduction to the consultation can be found here, and the survey starts from this webpage.
Responses are requested by 21 October 2021.
